FIT Interactive asked us to translate their SHARE program, a successful protocol for helping families cope with early onset dementia, into an iPad app.
One of the key features of the existing SHARE program is a set of exercises involving a magnet board that directly involves their clients with dementia. Our goal was to capture this tactile and interactive experience of working with physical objects within the iPad interface.
At the same time the app asks the counselor, who takes the lead in a given intervention, to collect a large amount of data to store in their case file. Our challenge for the iPad app was to preserve the sense of a physical connection to decision making while giving the counselors a robust way to collect a lot of information.
